Charlotte taken with 1960's Rolliflex 3.5E with Kodak CN400 film

Every now and again I feel the urge to go back to basics, just so I know I still have “the touch”.  Recently I decided to dust off my father’s 1962 Rolleiflex 3.5E Planar and bring it along to Charlotte and Justin’s wedding. These cameras where the fashion and press photographers camera of choice throughout the 1960′s and used by such great photographers as Bailey, Lategan and Donovan (not forgetting my dad of course). They are simply a joy to use.

Each exposure has to count as there is only 12 frames per roll of film, so no “peppering the subject”. Get it right first time is the rule. I love the way the Rolleifex slows down the way I work. There are no electronic aids such as auto focus or automatic exposure controls, everything is set manually. But the quality of the image just shines through.

My thanks to Charlotte and Justin for indulging me!

I simply had to post a small selection of Claire and Paul’s wedding photographs which I photographed on Saturday. Down Hall is one of my favourite venues in Essex, with spectacular architecture, gardens and of course top notch service. The day could not have started worse as the rain had been torrential all morning and I knew Claire really wanted her wedding photographs to be taken in the gardens.  So studio lights packed in the car I waded off to Down Hall fully expecting to be indoors all day. The rain continued to fall even during the ceremony but as the couple where saying their vowels it eased off and then stopped as Claire and Paul came down the isle! We made it out side and managed to get all the portraits and group photographs taken before the heavens opened up again. Once everybody was back in doors the Wedding Breakfast was ready to be served and speeches read. After everybody partied into the night. Charlotte at the hotel before her wedding

Here are some images from Charlotte and Justin’s gorgeous Sulhamstead wedding from a few weeks ago. Charlotte got ready in a nearby hotel before heading off to church in her father’s newly restored MG Midget. After the Ceremony all the guests where invited to a spectacular marquee reception at Justin’s parents house which is just up the road from the church in Ufton. Justin could not resist taking the keys to Charlotte’s father’s MG and driving his new wife to the reception in style. Fortunately the weather stayed fine all day and all the guests enjoyed a fine summer evening.

Here are a selection of images from a recent Fashion style shoot for an eighteenth birthday party. I thought it was a fantastic way to celebrate and remember a special birthday. We decided to do something a little “off the wall” for this shoot and use our Ellinchrom Ranger battery operated lighting units in local woodland. As you can see the results are very dramatic. More information on our portraiture can be found here.

I have just finished editing the photographs from Linda and Robert’s beautiful wedding at Ashridge. It was a fabulous day, the rain held off just long enough for their guests to watch Robert make the most spectacular of arrivals via helicopter! Linda’s dream was also met as her father was able to walk her down the aisle, he was so proud! During the ceremony there were a few chuckles as the grandfather clock started chiming 12 noon just as the Best Man was doing his reading.

Later on a jazz band played for Linda and Robert to start the dancing.

Volvo Cars East London

I was recently commissioned by  Volvo Cars East London, a new Volvo dealership in Chigwell to photograph the members of staff throughout the dealership for their new website which is soon to be launched. Karen Smith, the groups MD asked me to incorporate the staff’s working environment within the images. This is what I came up with….

Kelly at home before her Wedding Service

I was thrilled last Saturday, to photograph Kelly and Damian’s Wedding on a wonderful spring day. Kelly arrived at St. Richard of Chichester Church on her father’s arm, looking so beautiful in a champaign coloured gown. After the service and a few photographs outside the church, Kelly and Damian headed off to the wonderful Parklands, Quendon Hall, in a brand new Rolls Royce Ghost for their wedding breakfast and reception.
